BLUE SHIELD
NORWAY: ANNUAL REPORT 2014
The Norwegian Blue Shield Committee (BSN) in 2014 consisted of Axel Mykleby (ICOMOS) (chair), Sissel Merethe Berge (IFLA) (deputy chair) replaced by Mariann
Schjeide, Kari Ansnes (ICA) and Leif Pareli (ICOM). The Committee had five meetings during the year, mostly by Skype, and frequent contact by e-mail.
The most important issues for the committee in 2014 were:
Ratification of the Second Protocol of the Hague Convention:
Regrettably the ratification has been postponed again.
Destruction of Cultural Property in Syria
Committee members have participated in several radio programmes and press interviews about the current situation for cultural heritage in Syria and illegal trade in general.
Participation in Travel and Tourism Exhibition
Due to financial complications Blue Shield by the end of the year had to call off organizing a stand at the Travel Exhibition in January 2015. Hopefully we will come back next year.
Participation in the Association of National Committees of the Blue Shield (ANCBS)
As Treasurer of ANCBS, Axel Mykleby participated in the Extraordinary General Assembly of ANCBS in Rome May 16th, where ANCBS merged with ICBS to form Blue Shield International. Blue Shield Norway had made several
comments to the draft statutes circulated before the meeting; it is unclear to what extend these comments were taken into account.
At the meeting, Axel Mykleby was re-elected as board member for another three years’ term.
Finances
BSN has until now not had its own budget or resources; the travel expenses of the chairman have been covered by the Arts Council. A bank account for the BS Committee has now been established and the committee member
from ICA has taken on the task of treasurer.
